Winters; Woodland; Yuba City Position Summary The Construction
Manager is responsible for construction and improvement projects in
the electric transmission system. The Construction Manager
identifies contract worthy projects, consults on project
feasibility and project site details, coordinates with construction
crews, oversees project inspectors, and on a project specific basis
performs construction oversight. The incumbent may also prepare job
packages and construction estimates, conduct job walks, and meet
with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies. The Construction
Manager ensures projects are completed per company standards,
engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedule.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good
faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the
job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of
the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on
multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills,
education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value,
geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the
successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards
the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made
on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.? A reasonable
salary range is: Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area):$129,000 Mid Base
Salary (Bay Area):$168,000 Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area):$207,000
Minimum Base Salary(CA):$123,000 Mid Base Salary(CA):$160,000
Maximum Base Salary(CA):$197,000 Responsibilities: Applies broad
expertise to work on projects in multiple disciplines such as
civil, electrical, process instrumentation and pipeline
construction management with a high degree of knowledge and
ability. Works closely with Project Managers to understand
construction targets and identify potential contractual projects.
Compiles and interprets internal drawings and relevant data for the
RFP and contract processes, renegotiates contract scope with
contractor when needed. Following start of construction, consults
and clarifies technical details for contractors, and Inspectors
while assisting with change orders if needed. Attends job scope
walk downs, leads job scope discussions and attends 30/60/90 design
reviews by Engineering to provide constructability input. Leads
formal job walk downs with Project Managers to review the IFC
(Issued For Construction) drawings and discuss schedule and target
dates. Addresses all communication and project documentation with
contractors and conduct meetings at the job site. Monitors daily
construction activities and ensures the construction operations
meet the program’s safety, quality, cost and schedule goals.
Utilize workload management database, update any assigned projects,
reviews workload analysis reports for action, and manages full
planning team process from inception via request for contract. Acts
as point of contact for construction contractors, ensures the
contractor’s plan and assigned resources are adequate to deliver
the highest value. Obtains any information, resources, services or
materials needed to maintain the construction work flow, budget and
schedule from Project Coordinator, Engineering, Contracts or other
internal PG&E teams. Acts as Incident Commander and PG&E
Representative in the field. Ensures contractors follow safety
plans, project environmental/land permits and PG&E safety rules
and processes. Oversees the Inspection of the construction work.
Coordinates the work of field inspectors to ensure adequate
coverage of all work performed. Communicates any engineering and
design issues with Project Coordination and Engineering, seeks or
makes decisions on any change affecting cost and schedule according
to the DOA. Works with Project Managers to establish
planning/schedule dates for construction to commence later in the
year. Provides mentoring and training to Associate, Career and
Senior level employees Qualifications Minimum: 7 years of
experience in the field of Industrial engineering or Construction
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience Experience in
substation Desired: 9 years working experience in the field of
Industrial Engineering or Construction Advanced Knowledge of
California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Knowledge of the company’s
emergency management processes. Ability to lead trainings and coach
less experienced employees. Long term planning and scheduling
skills.
