And while most of our colleagues are remote, we have two great offices-one in Chicago and the other in San Diego. (Both locations are open to local team members who prefer an onsite or hybrid setup.) We are hiring for an on-site (San Diego) or remote Lead Software Developer to join our 40-person nationwide engineering team. Our development stack is a Ruby on Rails application, PostgreSQL database integrated with a React frontend. We have a tight-knit team that combines a Scrum process with a strong testing culture, continuous integration, and a (potentially unhealthy) obsession with puppies and kittens. You'll have a leg up if you're passionate about healthcare and geek out on delivering an amazing and useful application. Essential Functions:

• Designing, architecting, and building scalable data capture and analytics technology to continue our healthcare quality data market penetration.
• Setting technical direction for your team and product area.
• Having a product focus and implementing user experience improvements that delight.
• Coach and mentor your team members to develop their talents and careers.

  • 5+ years of web application development experience, preferably in Ruby on Rails.
  • 1-3+ years leading a software engineering team, ideally while managing team members
  • BS in Computer Science or extensive (5+ years) working experience in web software development.
  • Modern JS frameworks (React/Vue/etc.) experience a plus
  • Strong software development skills and best practices
  • Enjoy working with others to grow their skillsets
  • Testing mindset
  • Object-Oriented design
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively
  • Comfortable in a CLI/POSIX environment Preferred Education and Experience:
    • MS in Computer Science. Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes a team of 3-5 Work Environment/Physical Demands: Continuous sitting and fine manipulation. Travel Requirements: 5% Work Authorization: Legally able to work in the United States without sponsorship
