Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Experience in a Level 3 NICU - Ability to provide care for respiratory failure and preterm infants - Experience with bedside reporting and self-scheduling Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit has 26-30 beds and provides care at a high level of complexity. The nurse will be responsible for high-acuity patients, including those with respiratory failure and preterm infants. There is a charge nurse present who generally does not take patients but provides break relief. Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictate. The shift starts at 6:45 PM, and the nurse may engage in self-scheduling with access to extra shifts. Floating to other facilities may be required but is infrequent. The hospital is designated as "baby friendly" and offers excellent breastfeeding support. Cancellation of shifts is possible up to four per assignment. The charting system used is Cerner. Weekends are required every other weekend, and holidays will be rotated with core staff. Navy scrubs are required, with specific colors allowed for under shirts and jackets. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. The position involves a commitment to providing quality care in a supportive environment.
