Job Description:
At Meter, we believe enterprise connectivity should feel as
effortless as consumer Wi-Fi. Wireless is the last mile of the
network, and it defines the customer’s experience — how quickly
they get online, how reliable their connection feels, and how
confident they are in their infrastructure. As a Wireless Platform
Engineer, you’ll design and build the embedded systems and platform
capabilities that power Meter’s wireless networks at scale. You’ll
be hands-on with access points, gateways, and controllers — making
sure our products scale reliably in real-world deployments while
integrating advanced technologies like Zigbee and Bluetooth. The
impact you’ll drive Build new platform initiatives like the Meter
Gateway, bringing together access points, switches, controllers,
LTE, GPS, and more into the backbone of our product. Bring up new
hardware platforms and work with hardware engineers on platform
designs for upcoming platforms. Design and implement core wireless
platform features (device drivers, system services, protocol
handling) that enable higher-level features and applications.
Ensure observability and diagnostics are built in from the start,
empowering Meter teams and customers to troubleshoot with
confidence. Optimize for reliability and scalability, ensuring
systems perform across thousands of sites in diverse environments.
What your craft looks like Work directly with embedded devices and
wireless stacks (802.11, LTE, GPS, Zigbee, Bluetooth). Debug at the
packet and driver level to deliver robust and performant wireless
infrastructure. Collaborate closely with firmware and hardware
engineers to integrate platform features into Meter’s hardware.
Contribute to the design of scalable, maintainable systems that
underpin customer-facing features. What makes you a fit Extensive
board bring-up experience on platforms like ARM and x86. Experience
with wireless networking protocols (802.11) and embedded device
development. Strong debugging skills with packet captures, device
drivers, and wireless performance issues. Experience with Trusted
Platform Modules (TPM) and implementing Secure Boot. Proficiency in
C/C++, familiarity with Golang a plus. Knowledge of LTE, GPS,
Zigbee, or Bluetooth is a strong plus. A mindset of ownership and
autonomy — motivated by building reliable wireless infrastructure
at scale. Why Meter? The internet runs the world. Every purchase
you make, video call you join, it's all packets flowing through
networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re
brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise
space. We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build
everything from the ground-up: designing and building our own
enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations
to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and
deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring
institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, Reddit, rely on Meter to keep
their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.
Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more
than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking
stack in place to enable business to do so as seamlessly and
reliably as any modern utility. Compensation The estimated base
salary for this role is between $200,000-$250,000 Additionally,
this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan. By
applying to this job you acknowledge that you've read and
